Better known for its connection with nature and its social presence, Austria is no stranger to any of us. Under the last decade or so, the country has turned out to be a traveler’s paradise. But this time round, what awaited Austria’s alpine roads were not just any leisure seeking couple or group. It’s tamer streets paved way for a Self Driving Car, that’s right!
Virtual Vehicle — an R&D center working on vehicles of the future — became the first organization to test an autonomous car on public roads in the central European country. Its car, powered by NVIDIA DRIVE PX, hit the streets for testing and validation — a vital step before taking on the twists and turns of mountain passes.
The goal of Virtual Vehicle’s autonomous driving project is to create an open platform for partners, who can add their own sensors and driving algorithms to customize a vehicle’s capabilities.
